CCW

April 11, 2013 marked my 90 since applying for my CCW and no letter of happiness has appeared in my mail box, it's now April 16, 2013.  Would it be wrong to contact them and find out what is up?

  1. Contact them. You should have had it already.

    1. I did just that, I got their voicemail so I left a message so maybe I'll get a call in a day or two.

    1. I just learned that I guess it's law that they have to process it in 90 days so I'm past that. I did take her advice, thank you :)

  3. Ours is supposed to be 45 days. I called the sheriff's office a week later and asked and they said that is was now taking up to 90 days. They called back the next day to say my wife's was in but 5 days later and I still haven't heard about mine.

    1. Did you both apply at the same time? That's odd that her's would be processed quicker. I guess this is becoming a big frustration for a lot of people. I'm trying to patient but I'm just so excited to be taking this step, as I'm sure you both are as well. :)

    2. My wife picked hers up to day and asked about mine and was told, "why yes it is sitting here". I go in tomorrow to get it. That makes hers just about 60 days. I figured mine might take a little longer as I had a National Guard honorable discharge added to my stack of paperwork. Actually, our county is pretty good. Our CCW instructor told us that some of the surrounding counties took 45 days before they sent the applications into the state due to not having dedicated staff to process the fingerprints and applications.

    3. Got mine today. Roughly 60 days in North Carolina.

    4. Congratulations to the both of you, I'll hopefully be joining you both next week. DPD called me back yesterday and said mine will be mailed on Friday, which that makes over 100 days before I got mine. I should have bought a house in a surrounding county instead. lol

    5. Woot and congratulations! I know that here that they've been flooded with requests and I imagine that it's the same everywhere else.

    6. It's terribly flooded, probably everywhere but I guess the optimistic way to see this is that, yes, it may take longer to get it but it also means there are more armed citizens out there. I had posted an article about Denver's situation and it's pretty bad. They do processing only by appointment, when I applied it was a two month wait to get an appointment, now it's a four month wait.

I just hope the ones that are getting permits are responsible. I remember asking the officer of some of the people that went in to apply and if they ever out right denied someone then and there. She said, yes, some people come in and start talking about how they want to kill people, they send them away immediate, as they should.

  4. Give them a couple of days, then with your next phone call, just quizzically ask them - "I thought that the law stated I had to have it within 90 days?" See what their answer is.

    1. I think that's a most excellent idea, I'm hoping my stating that it's been 95 days will prompt a call.

I have these horrid fears that they lost my paperwork and they'll say I have to do it again, I would be so livid. Especially since now it is taking four months to just get the appointment.
